Tyson Voelkel

Founder

A mission-driven executive, U.S. Army combat veteran, and institutional leader, Tyson's career spans military service, global engagement, enterprise leadership, and philanthropic impact. He is known for building high-trust teams, driving disciplined execution, and aligning capital, strategy, and relationships to produce results, whether in demanding operational environments or in complex, stakeholder-rich organizations.

Tyson began his professional journey in the United States Army, serving as a Paratrooper, Jumpmaster, and Ranger-qualified leader. He completed two combat tours in Iraq, twice serving as a company commander, and received two Bronze Stars, recognition of leadership and performance in high-risk, high-consequence environments. Those formative experiences shaped an enduring operating philosophy: mission first, people always. They also forged a leadership style marked by calm under pressure, personal accountability, and an unwavering commitment to team success.

Following his military service, Tyson built a distinguished record leading mission-oriented organizations at the intersection of strategy, finance, governance, and stakeholder engagement. He served as Chief Operating Officer for a multi-billion-dollar ultra-high-net-worth family office, bringing operational discipline and strategic focus to complex, multi-asset responsibilities. He later served as President and CEO of the Texas A&M Foundation, one of the nation's premier higher education philanthropies. In that role, he helped drive significant growth in the endowment and expand the Foundation's impact on Texas A&M University through modernization, stronger donor trust, deeper institutional partnerships, and long-term stewardship. He is known for setting ambitious goals, insisting on best-in-class execution, and developing leaders who combine competence with character. His approach emphasizes transparency, continuous improvement, and an "elite but not elitist" culture: high standards paired with humility, service, and teamwork.

Tyson serves as President of Spirit of America, standing with those who champion freedom, opportunity, and human dignity in the world's toughest places. He also works with a select number of family office clients, applying his experience in governance, capital allocation, and institutional leadership to complex, high-stakes environments where disciplined execution and mission alignment are paramount.

Tyson brings international acumen and a global perspective informed by combat deployments, senior-level engagement with leaders across sectors, and a career spent operating in environments where risk, reputation, and mission alignment are inseparable. He is skilled at translating strategic intent into executable plans, building coalitions across diverse constituencies, and communicating a clear narrative that inspires commitment from donors, partners, and teams. He leads with empowered execution, creating decision space for talented people, clarifying priorities, and ensuring accountability without micromanagement.

In addition to nonprofit and institutional leadership, Tyson has deep experience in business and investment strategy, particularly where governance, capital allocation, and long-term value creation are central. He operates with an investor's mindset: disciplined diligence, pragmatic risk assessment, and a relentless focus on durable advantage. Colleagues describe him as both strategic and hands-on, equally comfortable framing long-range vision and driving the operational details required to deliver results, always with humility and a focus on the mission.

Tyson is sought out for his ability to align people, resources, and strategy, building teams defined by trust and performance, and creating environments where individuals can achieve lives and work of real meaning. His personal mission is straightforward: to lead with integrity, serve with purpose, and empower others to thrive, building trust, delivering impact, and advancing missions greater than himself.
